Don’t get us wrong — there are some tools that your kitchen just can’t operate without. We also understand that certain kitchen tools are extremely inventive and do great things to improve the overall functionality of your everyday kitchen tasks. Even with this information, however, there are certain kitchen items you can live without that will maximize the overall space of your kitchen. If you’re looking to free up some space or just want to declutter to prepare for a kitchen renovation, we here at Joseph Kitchen and Bath can help with the advice below.
Too Many Kitchen Utensils? Get Rid of Them!
As the years go by, utensils can begin to pile up in your drawer. Whether this is through collecting certain types of utensils, or gathering ones from other houses/restaurants, these small items can take up a lot of space within your drawers and make for a messy kitchen area. If you have any utensils that are broken, stained or just not usable anymore, it’s time to throw them in the bin. Keep only the utensils you need, and see just how much of a change your kitchen drawers will have at the end of it!
Say Goodbye To Small Counter Space Appliances
In a lot of situations, homeowners will have smaller kitchen appliances that take up a lot of space within the area — especially on surfaces such as countertops and kitchen islands. You may be wondering, how do I get rid of these appliances if I find them beneficial? The best way we believe to do this is by replacing appliances that can perform just a single task with appliances that can perform that same action as well as other things.
For example, if you own a rice cooker but only cook rice in a pot, why keep an appliance on your counter collecting dust? Maybe you have a kettle as well as a Keurig, but your Keurig is able to do the job of a kettle with no problems or issues. You might be surprised at just how many appliances you can go without, because there is another appliance out there that can perform its action and more. This, of course, results in a much spacious & clean counter space for your kitchen.
Mismatched Mugs & Dinnerware
We don’t believe that there is anything wrong with having sentimental mugs that don’t match your overall kitchen theme, but when the collection becomes a bit too big it might be time to find another place for it other than the kitchen. This does not mean having to throw them away, especially if you enjoy keeping a collection; it just means finding space in another area such as your living room, in a glass pantry or on a fancy shelf. In certain situations, they may add a nice decorative touch to your space!
In general though, we recommend that the majority of your dinnerware & mugs stay consistent and on theme in order for your kitchen design to truly shine and stand out.
