Ideas on Transitional kitchens

The transitional kitchen type falls right between modern and classic kitchen designs. Visually, you will find less detailing and more straight lines, along with classical warm colours but made with modern hard edge designs. This type of kitchen and cabinetry setup is suitable for all kitchen sizes and is an especially attractive kitchen type for condominiums and similar units.

Cabinets painted in light colours (real wood or MDF) i.e. different off whites, soft gray or light cream is quite in demand with this type of kitchen. Choosing a light colour for the cabinets with a matching dark counter top creates a beautiful visual contrast. Alternatively, a dark stained real wood island, will contrast very well with white or off-white kitchen cabinets.

The profile (shape and design) of the cabinet doors are completely dependent on personal taste. A flat panel gives more modern look and a simple raised panel gives a more ornate look.
We also offer crown moldings as an extra add-on option, and even a small and simple molding gives your kitchen a larger and luxurious look, especially for larger kitchen areas. Kitchens, without a riser or crown molding are still sleek and more modern in a transitional kitchen.
Instead of a mantle hood, a good looking range hood is ideal for this type of kitchen design.

As always, we also offer glass windows with different textures such as solid stained glass… and clear coloured glasses to meet your custom needs.
Quartz counter tops are a better choice for creating a simple but strong look. Black or white with sparkles and without sparkles, soft gray, cream… are suggested for this type of project.
Transitional kitchens often feature square double sinks, or a large single (round is more modern or rectangular) sink, which we can also install.

Finally, modern knobs and handles (square/flat) are the appropriate option for these transitional kitchens. For off white kitchen cabinet doors, we recommend chrome, brushed nickel and dark handles and knobs, each with its own place depending on what your other design electives.
